Now all European markets are open to the Absolicon X10 solar collector that concentrates the sun! The Swedish National Testing and Research Institute have issued the coveted Solar Keymark certification for Absolicons revolutionary solar collectors. It is the first time a solar panel with 10 times concentration is certified. - This certification gives us a green light in terms of our technology and removes important trade barriers, says Absolicon CEO Joakim Byström.
With the Solar Keymark certification the solar collectors are eligible throughout the EU and in many countries to receive subsidies and homologations. In Spain, where solar energy is mandatory in all new houses, the average subsidy is 30%. Absolicon is the second company in Sweden who has been awarded the coveted label. The requirements are stringent. In addition to accurately measuring the solar collector performance, density- wind load- and high temperature- tests are carried out. The company must also have a quality system that ensures a production process of top quality. - The most difficult part of the testing procedure is to manage the overheating tests. Since we are concentrating sunlight, our solar collectors can be very hot, over 260 degrees, including the piping and connections as well, so we have to make sure they meet the requirements. The tests were completed just before the New Year. The test in Borås was delayed and suddenly the Swedish summer ended. In order to complete the testing we had ship the 10-meter solar collector in a huge wooden crate to southern Italy. With assistance of the Italian sun the last tests were completed in November and on the 30th of December the certificate was issued. - Tests in Sweden and Italy show that we have very good performance. In an installation working with temperatures of around 75 C, we produce 50% more solar energy autumn, spring and winter than conventional solar panels. - The company is now launching a new era within solar energy, says Joakim Byström. We have the world's best solar energy systems for large buildings and district heating plants. We can connect directly to a district heating plant without using water tanks and get high efficiency. Our only requirement is that there is room for at least 100 m2 on the building's roof or on the ground beside it. The company expects a huge amount of interest, especially from apartment buildings, hotels and industries that use a lot of hot water. Production takes place mainly in Sweden with a small factory for assembly in Spain.
