Frequently asked questions

Can Absolicon solar collectors produce electricity?

Absolicon has the world’s best solar collectors for heat and steam that can run heat processes in industries or district heating networks, but not for producing electricity.
We have half the price of energy and 5 times more production per land area – and the energy we deliver is as heat or steam that can be used directly in industrial processes or district heating networks.
It is theoretically possible to use the heat to drive an ORC turbine and generate electricity, but then it is easier to use solar photovoltaic directly.

How long does the solar collectors last?

The T160 Solar Collector is built to deliver solar heat for at least 25 years. All materials are tested for longevity in harsh climates.
Through its own research and various collaborations, Absolicon has found methods that reduce costs and raise the performance levels of the products. Every component of the T160 solar collector contributes to the total, record-breaking performance.

What is the difference between solar collectors and solar cells?

Solar cells (also known as photovoltaic cells) produce electricity, while solar heat from Absolicon’s T160 captures the sun’s energy to create high-temperature heat up to 160°C. It is the heat that powers most industrial processes, making solar heating more relevant for companies looking to reduce their fossil fuels.

How effective is Absolicon's technology?

Absolicon T160 is Solar Keymark certified and has an optical efficiency of 76%, which places it among the world’s most efficient solar collectors. The high efficiency means that our customers can produce large amounts of heat in a limited area.

The technology has been tested in various climates around the world and proven to deliver reliable heat production at a competitive cost. Our technology is developed to meet the needs of industry – scalable, proven and ready to integrate into existing systems.

How long does it take to install a solar thermal field?

The time depends on the size and complexity of the facility. A typical project can be installed and put into operation within a few months. Our systems are modular, which means that the installation can be scaled up gradually and integrated into existing energy systems without major operational disruptions.

We work closely with the customer throughout the process, from feasibility study and design to installation and commissioning, to ensure a smooth transition.

What are the benefits of a local solar collector production line?

In addition to selling solar collectors, we offer complete production lines that make it possible to locally manufacture Absolicon’s technology on an industrial scale. It gives countries and regions the opportunity to produce solar collectors themselves, create jobs and build a domestic green industry. In this way, we contribute not only to reduced emissions, but also to local economic development and increased energy security.
